Hudson Valley Air Tours

D-25“We will take you high or low, fast or slow, anyway you want to go,” starts our barker’s spiel. Yes, we are still barnstorming, just as they did in the 1920s. In the past the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome used a 1929 Bird biplane, followed by a 1929 Pitcairn Mailwing, and now a newly restored 1929 New Standard D-25.

The New Standard D-25 was the greatest of the barnstorming aircraft. Designed expressly for the barnstormer by Charles Day, the D-25 was easy to fly, capable of operating out of the smallest fields with its big, high-lift wings, and featured modern (1928) construction techniques – including a rugged wide-stance landing gear for rough fields. Best of all it doubled the payload of the “old” Standard with room for four paying passengers instead of two per flight.

Come fly with us donning helmet and goggles and see what a thrilling experience open cockpit flying can be!

Passengers are flown over the Hudson River and back at a cost of $75.00 per person. With accommodations for up to four passengers, this incredible experience can be shared with your friends and relatives. Flights are booked on a first come/first serve basis every Saturday and Sunday June through October. The rides booth opens at 10:00 am on airshow weekends. Always a favorite with our guests, these rides book quickly so arrive early to ensure a seat. Sorry, we cannot reserve rides on the weekends. Pre-arranged weekday rides and gift certificates are also available. Call 845-752-3200 for details.

We are proud to offer this unique opportunity to our visitors. Unfortunately circumstances beyond our control such as weather and wind conditions sometimes cause flights to be delayed or canceled. In the event of flight cancellations, ride tickets are fully refundable. The decision to fly or not is at the sole discretion of the pilot.
