Golden Age (1919-1940)

At the end of WWI, US civil aviation consisted war surplus aircraft and engines.  That couldn’t last long and soon a fledgling industry began to stir. In 1927, Charles Lindbergh flew the Atlantic in the Spirit of St. Louis. Both interest and the industry literally “took off” into a Golden Age. We recreate this renaissance with a stable of late 20s and 30s aircraft in our air shows and Museum. From the barnstormers, to the early air mail, to the “flivvers” that were supposed to bring flight to everyman, our collection represents the progress between the Wars.
