Costume Contest – Come, Share, Show-Off!! Promenade your style and Strut Your STUFF! We Want to SEE YOU! Registration is 1-1:30pm. Costume Contest starts at 1:30pm. The first place winner will receive a free bi-plane ride
Victorian Picnic – Pack your best picnic and choose your spot (first come, first served basis), set up, and stay there all day. You will be able to see the air show from your picnic spot. Prize awarded for best Victorian Picnic Display! Adult beverages are allowed, we just ask that you be discreet and remain mindful that it is a family friendly show.
Open Cockpit Bi-Plane Rides – 10am-2pm and 4-6 pm – Be a barnstormer! We provide the helmet and goggles, you bring your sense of adventure and camera. Flights are approximately 15 minutes long, $100 per person, first come-first served, sign up at the rides booth. We believe in safety first, so we reserve the right to cancel flights due to weather conditions or aircraft maintenance needs.
Museum Tours – 10:30am and 4:30pm – The Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome presents one of the largest collections of early aeroplanes in the world, as well as automobiles, motorcycles, early engines and memorabilia. The Museum offers four hanger buildings housing static displays of aircraft from the Pioneer, World War I and Golden Age eras. Join Mike Fisher on a docent led museum tour and learn even more about the history of flight.
Tea Dueling with Dolly & Birdie – The noble sport of Tea Dueling is a parlor game of skill, technique, and wits between two individuals armed only with tea and biscuits. It requires audience participation, honor, quick wit, steady hands, biscuits, and hot tea. No experience necessary. Come to duel! Come to cheer!! Medals awarded to Grand Champion and Runner-Up.
History of Flight Air Show – 2:30 to 4pm – The air show entertains and educates, highlighting the Pioneer era before WWI, a WWI show teaser, and the Golden Age of Aviation in the ’20s and ’30s. The stars are the historic airplanes including the 1909 Bleriot, the oldest regularly flying airplane in the Western Hemisphere; the Fokker DR-I Triplane, the most famous fighter of WWI; and a precise replica of the Spirit of St. Louis, which was the first aircraft to fly NY to Paris in 1927. While aircraft rotate on and off the flight-line, 15-20 are usually flyable for the show. For safety, we reserve the right to cancel all or part of the air shows due to weather conditions or aircraft maintenance.
The Eternal Frontier – Traveling Steampunk Minstrels, Professor Adam Smasher & Baron Von Zipple, will stroll the grounds throughout the day playing their fun and melodic steampunk infused music.
